The Giants had the unflattering distinction of being the first team eliminated from playoff contention this season when they fell to 2-10 last week. Now though, they’re not alone.

Five teams have been eliminated from the NFL playoffs so far

Through Week 13 of the 2025 NFL season, a total of five teams have been officially eliminated from playoff contention, much to the chagrin of their respective fanbases. Those teams are:

  • New York Giants (2-10)

  • Arizona Cardinals (3-9)

  • New Orleans Saints (2-10)

  • Las Vegas Raiders (2-10)

  • Tennessee Titans (1-11)

For the Giants, this will mark the third consecutive season without a playoff appearance. Their struggles this season led to the firing of head coach Brian Daboll in November. Meanwhile. it will be the fourth straight year without a playoff appearance for the Cardinals, Titans and Raiders, and the fifth in a row for the Saints.

But, while their playoff hopes have been dashed, all of these teams still have several games remaining where they could play spoiler for other teams. For instance, the Cardinals have two games remaining against the NFC West rival Rams. If they were able to pull out a win, or two, over the Rams, it could seriously mess up L.A.’s playoff plans.

The five eliminated teams will likely get some company in the very near future, too. Teams like the Cleveland Browns (3-9), Washington Commanders (3-9) and New York Jets (3-9) are teetering on the edge of elimination. The Jets have the longest current playoff drought in the league. The Jets haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, and that streak isn’t going to be snapped this season.

In the end, only 14 teams make the playoffs, while the other 18 are left on the outside looking in. No team has clinched a playoff berth yet.
