According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Golden State Warriors are prepared to sign Stephen Curry’s brother, Seth, to an end-of-season contract on Monday.

The Warriors signed Curry to a training camp deal in October, but due to insufficient roster space, the franchise had to waive him and re-add him later.

While most members of the Warriors will benefit from the move, Blue Man Hoop’s Peter O’Keefe believes there is one player who will be more affected by Curry’s signing than the rest.

“Buddy Hield must be concerned by Seth Curry signing,” O’Keefe wrote Sunday.

“Hield has failed to deliver as a veteran sharpshooter to begin his second year with Golden State, having averaged a career-low 7.2 points and 2.0 rebounds on just 40.9% shooting from the floor and 30.8% from three-point range.”

“While it's unlikely that the younger Curry emerges as a true double-digit scorer for the Warriors, he could certainly deliver far greater efficiency after drilling a career-high 45.6% from 3-point range with the Charlotte Hornets last season.”

“If Hield suddenly starts getting DNPs or is limited to a 10-12 minutes in the rotation, the front office would be left with no choice but to explore how they could use his $9.2 million salary to upgrade elsewhere on the roster.”

If Hield does find himself in trade rumors this season, he has no one to blame for himself.

Outside of an impressive three-point shooting stretch to start the 2024-25  season, Hield has been more disappointing with the Dubs.

Hield was expected to be an ideal replacement for Klay Thompson after Golden State traded him to the Dallas Mavericks during the 2024 offseason.

However, the former Philadelphia 76ers sharpshooter hasn’t been the contributor the Warriors hoped he’d be in the Bay, potentially leading to a midseason split.

The last thing Hield needs is for Curry to show him up immediately. However, judging by Curry’s perimeter shooting track record and Hield’s recent struggles, there’s a legitimate chance it could occur this season.
