Breaking: Sauce Gardner avoids major injury, should be out a couple of weeks

According to Jordan Schultz, Colts’ All-Pro cornerback and recent acquisition Sauce Gardner has avoided a much dreaded Achilles tear and suffered a mild calf strain, which should sideline him at least a couple of weeks. Gardner suffered the injury early in the first quarter, and it being a non-contact injury to such a sensible area promptly raised plenty of concern along the fanbase that the star cornerback suffered a long-term injury. It depends on how the Colts want to treat the injury, but most likely Gardner will miss next week against the Jaguars, and then the Seahawks and 49ers games as well.

In his abscence, the Colts will probably turn once again to Mekhi Blackmon and Jaylon Jones to start alongside Charvarius Ward, as the team will look to avoid dropping three games in a row and adding yet another late season collapse to recent history. It seems like a silver lining that Gardner avoided major injury, which would have made a terrible Sunday somehow even worse.
