Shedeur Sanders wasn't quite able to get the job done for the Browns on Sunday against the 49ers, and he isn't making any excuses about his performance.

San Francisco defeated Cleveland 26-8 this weekend as Sanders earned his second start for the Browns after leading the franchise to victory in his first start the week prior. While the Browns weren't able to walk away with a win, Sanders' individual performance wasn't bad in the slightest – he went 16-of-25 for 149 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions in the loss.

However, after the game, Sanders took full accountability for the loss. When asked if having players in and out of the lineup made things tougher for the young signal caller, he shrugged the question off and made it clear that he thinks that he needs to step his game up another level, regardless of what's going on around him.

"Life's difficult, in general, so that's not a big problem to me. I've just got to be better, overall. I've got to be able to rally everybody together when adversity is hitting," Sanders said.

The response shows a moment of maturity for Sanders, who has been scrutinized for his approach to taking accountability in similar situations throughout his career. And Sunday was not his final chance to show he deserves the reins of the program going forward, and head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters following the game that Sanders will be the starter next Sunday when the Browns play the Titans.
