The feel-good story that was the 2024 Washington Commanders has turned into the “feels bad, man” story of the 2025 season. Jayden Daniels is out with an elbow injury suffered in the Seattle Seahawks game, although thankfully it’s not as serious as it looked. The defense is awful, the offense is struggling with and without Daniels, and at 3-8 they’re playing for next season.

As much as it’s been great fun mocking the Denver Broncos after the Russell Wilson trade, they’ve come through the worst parts of the Wilson trade really well. Bo Nix has been at least competent in two seasons as Denver’s starter, often leading game-winning drives in 2025. The Broncos have an elite defense with a monster pass rush, which is a major reason why they’re 9-2 and ready to wrest the Kansas City Chiefs’ grip on the AFC West.
…So why is this obvious mismatch still on Sunday Night Football? Your guess is as good as mine. I guess it’s hard to flex games on a holiday weekend.
NBC and Peacock have you covered at 5:20 pm PT.
