As Wicked: For Good dominates the box office, the new Stephen King adaptation, The Running Man, continues to underperform. Directed by Edgar Wright, the movie dropped to fourth on its recent second weekend at the box office, earning just $5.7 million in domestic revenue and acting as an illustration of the tough times most movies are currently facing in theaters. However, for those Wright fans who believe his latest foray into the action genre proves he should return to his comedy roots, you're in for a treat this December.

As of December 1, you'll be able to watch Wright's beloved crime comedy, Hot Fuzz, on streaming site Starz. The second feature film in the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, Starz is also offering the first, 2004's Shaun of the Dead, as part of their upcoming slate of arrivals. For a film with a small production budget of $16 million, Hot Fuzz demolished box office expectations with a final haul of $80 million, split between $23 million in domestic revenue and a further $57 million from overseas markets. The film also performed well in home media sales, earning a further $36.7 million. A synopsis for Hot Fuzz reads:

"As a former London constable, Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) finds it difficult to adapt to his new assignment in the sleepy British village of Sandford. Not only does he miss the excitement of the big city, but he also has a well-meaning oaf (Nick Frost) for a partner. However, when a series of grisly accidents rocks Sandford, Nick smells something rotten in the idyllic village."

'Hot Fuzz' Is a True Comedy Gem

A movie unlike any other, but featuring plenty of doting homage to action classics that came before it, Hot Fuzz is rightfully considered a modern comedy masterpiece. Taking its action set pieces as seriously as its witty one-liners, the film breezes through a fast-paced thrill ride set in a cozy British village, supported by one of the finest screenplays of the 21st century. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the movie boasts a "certified fresh" 91% rating from critics and 89% from audiences, with the consensus on the site reading, "The brilliant minds behind Shaun of the Dead successfully take a shot at the buddy cop genre with Hot Fuzz. The result is a bitingly satiric and hugely entertaining parody."

Hot Fuzz is coming to Starz this December. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming stories.
