The Washington Commanders may have a problem on their hands for the Sunday night game against the Denver Broncos. Not only will the Commanders have a new kicker for Sunday night, as Jake Moody makes his Washington debut, but the Commanders will also have a new long snapper.

On Sunday, just hours before kickoff, Washington ruled out veteran long snapper Tyler Ott. Ott was on the injury report all week with a back injury and illness, but practiced on Thursday and Friday. However, on Saturday, the Commanders signed long snapper Zach Triner to the practice squad and immediately elevated him to the roster as protection if Ott couldn't play on Sunday.

The good news is that Triner has been around. The 34-year-old is a nine-year NFL veteran who has spent time with the Jets, Packers, Buccaneers, Dolphins, Broncos, Seahawks and Falcons. However, much of his time was spent with the Bucs, where he served as their long snapper from 2019-24. He has played in 84 career games, with 81 coming in Tampa Bay. Triner played three games with Miami.

While Triner has always been a steady long snapper, which is why teams continue bringing him in, you always worry about communication/snap issues in the first game with a new team. It also doesn't help that Washington has a new kicker.

The good news is that the one constant for Washington is punter/holder Tress Way, the Commanders' longest-tenured player.
