The move comes as the Gators simultaneously work to finalize their agreement with Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall, creating a new leadership tandem expected to reshape the direction of the program.
Caldwell, who currently works as an executive in the Philadelphia Eagles' front office, is expected to join Florida's new-look football leadership structure as the program reshapes its operations under athletic director Scott Stricklin.

Before arriving in Philadelphia, Caldwell spent eight seasons as general manager of the Jaguars, where he drafted more Pro Bowl players than any GM in franchise history and assembled the roster that reached the 2017 AFC Championship game. His resume also includes stops with the Falcons, Colts and Panthers, contributing to playoff teams in 13 of his first 17 NFL seasons.
The timing of the hire is significant. Florida is in the process of finalizing its deal with Sumrall, who emerged as the school's top target after leading Tulane for the past two seasons. Caldwell's arrival fits directly into that transition.
