The Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers will square off in a Week 13 AFC matchup with major playoff implications, meaning both teams will need their No.1 wide receivers to step up.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFor the Bills, Khalil Shakir has been Josh Allen's go-to guy all year, while DK Metcalf has had an up-and-down debut campaign with the Steelers thus far. However, are either worthy of being in your lineup this week, or are there better options out there, such as Courtland Sutton?
The red-hot Denver Broncos will take on the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football in Week 13, so is Sutton a start?
Khalil Shakir start or sit advice
As previously mentioned, Shakir has been Allen's top target this year by a wide margin. However, that doesn't mean he's been a consistent playmaker for Buffalo.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementShakir has tallied over 100 receiving yards in just one game in 2025 and has also scored just three touchdowns. The Boise State product hasn't been overly productive, but he should be in your lineup this week for one reason.
The Steelers have one of the worst pass defenses in football. Teryl Austin's unit is allowing the most passing yards per game (258.7) and has had no answers for the elite offenses.
Shakir may not be an exciting start, but he could be in for a productive outing on Sunday versus an abysmal Pittsburgh secondary, especially with Dalton Kincaid's status up in the air due to a hamstring injury.
Verdict: Start
DK Metcalf start or sit advice
It's been tough sledding at times for Metcalf, who hasn't even reached 600 receiving yards on the season heading into Week 13.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMetcalf doesn't have a favorable matchup this week. Unlike the Steelers, the Bills have been elite against the pass this year, allowing just 168.2 passing yards per game, which is tops in the league. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers also playing through multiple broken bones in his wrist, there is too much going against Metcalf to start him.
Verdict: Sit
Courtland Sutton start or sit advice
Sutton hasn't posted over 60 receiving yards since Week 8, and has scored just one touchdown in the last seven games. Despite being 8-2, the Broncos have struggled offensively recently, but the unit could be in for a much-needed breakout game on Sunday night.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWashington's pass defense is horrid, and Dan Quinn's defense has struggled mightily during the team's six-game losing streak. Though Sutton has been quiet over the last few weeks, this is the perfect matchup to start him and reap the rewards.
