The Cincinnati Bengals would probably be content with Trey Hendrickson walking during NFL free agency.

When Hendrickson has been at his best throughout his career, there's an argument to be made that he's among the top edge rushers in the NFL.

He's as good as it gets when it comes to getting to the quarterback, but after the contract situation last offseason and dealing with some injuries this year, some might not view it as too big a loss if it were to happen.

If it does, there are a few obvious teams around the league that would love to have a player of his caliber, and Peter Panacy of Niner Noise recently suggested that the San Francisco 49ers could be one of them.

“Sure, Hendrickson has battled injuries this season and is having what many would view as a down year with just four sacks over seven games. And the soon-to-be 31 year old isn't exactly an up-and-coming talent...

“OTC values Hendrickson's 2025 efforts at just over $11 million on the season. And while he'd assuredly command much more on his next free-agent deal, the freed-up money from Aiyuk's voided guarantee should easily cover the vast bulk of what Hendrickson should cost. So, if the 49ers still view their championship window as being wide open, what to do with that cash is brutally clear,” he wrote.

The 49ers are always looking to improve on both sides of the football, as the team is typically in a championship window. Adding Hendrickson would only strengthen that, as he'd be a great addition to a team looking to win it all in the near future.
