And right about now, it’d be fun to be a fly on the wall in various places around the ACC to hear what people are saying this morning. Stuff like this: “Bobby Joe, what the hell happened? We got Virginia in the ACC Championship? And Duke? Goldang it! What the hell! Who forgot to pay the referees!”
Okay, just kidding about the refs. You guys can dream up your own scenario. But it won’t be much cooler than Duke somehow slipping into the ACC Championship game. The odds were against it and when we fell sleep last night, we saw that Cal upset SMU, but it didn’t fully register.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhat a cool thing for Duke football. People around the ACC and country are kind of skeptical, but Duke is a solid team that has worked through its issues and proven to be resilient.
We couldn’t be happier for them and Manny Diaz, who has reignited his career in Durham. About the only thing better would be for Duke to slip in the playoffs, draw Mike Elko’s Texas A&M…and shock the world.
