Between Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts, the Philadelphia Eagles are never short of cliches and quotes. They can't help themselves. Neither can the fans and media who follow them.
If one isn't careful, one might find oneself telling the family that they had a purpose long before anyone had an opinion. That typically precedes discussions about perfume, poison, and keeping the main thing the main thing.

Philadelphia's implosion vs. the Dallas Cowboys was gutwrenching and disappointing. Losing to the Chicago Bears was depressing and deflating.
No one wants to hear anything else about the need to figure things out or how tirelessly Nick Sirianni and his staff are working. Who are we kidding, though? That won't stop Jalen Hurts from issuing his rallying cry.
"Ultimately, you look inward first and I see it as how the flow of things has gone for us this year and being practical about that. I can’t turn the ball over, so the ultimate goal is to go out there and find a way to win. That’s been a direct correlation with success for us being able to protect the ball and so that really, really killed us.”
Those were Hurts' words when asked about the ongoing issues facing Philadelphia's struggling offense. Following the Black Friday game, he was available to the media. If one didn't know any better, they'd look at his face and mannerisms and assume he's disappointed. That can't be trusted, though. That's the same stoic expression he has on his face when he wins.
"We have to definitely stay together. Stay committed to what the team is trying to accomplish. In the end, no one ever said it was going to be easy, and we’ve got to embrace the challenge. We’ve got to embrace this time and respond to it the right way.”
The Eagles star's message was about sticking together, trusting one another, and ending an annoying slump. Nothing has come easy. Everything recent has been ugly, but the Birds are 8-4 and sitting atop the NFC East.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhen asked how he'd be spending his time during a long week, Hurts said, "I'll be working". When asked how he'll improve his scrambling, he said, "I'll be working". He's asking for the same level of accountability and work ethic from his coaches and teammates. This team needs a spark, but if they get it, things can shift in the other direction.
