Jayden Daniels has missed the past two games for the Washington Commanders after suffering a dislocated elbow in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks, and his stay on the sideline will last another week, at least.

Daniels, who returned to the practice field this week, has been ruled out of Washington’s Week 13 matchup against the Denver Broncos, though there remains a chance that the star quarterback returns this season. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has been encouraged by Daniels’ progress.

Jayden Daniels won't play in Week 13 vs. Broncos

In Daniels' absence, Marcus Mariota will get his sixth start of the season.

There has been some debate about whether the Commanders should even try to bring Daniels back this season since they’re basically already eliminated from playoff contention at 2-8. But if healthy and cleared, Daniels wants to play.

“It’s a day-by-day process. Just kind of getting back into a rhythm, and get in the flow of things,” Daniels said earlier this week. “Gotta go out there and play football. If I’m back out there, I’m healthy, and I’m ready to go, I want to be out there.”

But while Daniels won’t return against Denver, another key member of Washington’s offense will. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin is set to return to action. He reaggravated a quad injury that he had suffered earlier in the season against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 27, and he's been sidelined since. He said he feels better this time around.

"I feel like my acceleration is there, just kind of like that next gear that I have, and I'm just not really thinking about it at all," McLaurin said this week. "I definitely feel better this time around and the ramp-up process has been really good."

The game between the Commanders and Broncos is set for Sunday Night Football. It will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET from Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.
