Quarterback Michael Mitchell Jr. has decommitted from Vanderbilt football's 2026 class, according to reports from 247Sports and Rivals.

Mitchell was the Commodores' first 2026 commitment, originally pledging in September 2024 from Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco.

Since Mitchell's commitment, Diego Pavia rose to prominence as Vanderbilt's signal-caller. Pavia is out of eligibility after 2025, but the Commodores have pursued 5-star Nashville product Jared Curtis, who is currently committed to Georgia.

Mitchell also picked up a recent offer from Stanford.

Vanderbilt currently has 19 high school and one junior college commit in its 2026 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 43 overall in the 247Sports Composite.

The early signing period runs from Dec. 3-5, moving up this year from its previous placement in mid-December.
