BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football will get a chance to avenge a loss that’s haunted it for more than a year at Lucas Oil Stadium next week.
The No. 2 Hoosiers (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) clinched a spot in the conference championship Friday night by beating Purdue. They watched the No. 1 Buckeyes (12-0, 9-0) grab the other open spot Saturday by beating Michigan, 27-9, to set up a battle of the only remaining undefeated teams in the country Dec. 6, in Indianapolis.

The Big Ten title game will pit the two Heisman frontrunners against each other with Julian Sayin (+400) looking to make up ground on Fernando Mendoza (-125).
While Sayin threw an early interception against Michigan, he didn’t make many mistakes after that and finished the game 19 of 26 for 233 yards with three touchdowns. His 50-yard touchdown throw to Carnell Tate in the third quarter basically put the game out of reach from the Wolverines.

He entered the transfer portal a few weeks after joining the program when Nick Saban retired. The former five-star prospect beat out Lincoln Kienholz for the starting job at Ohio State in fall camp.
Sayin went into Saturday’s game with 2,832 yards passing (79.4%), 27 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Carnell Tate has 39 receptions for 711 yards with seven touchdowns despite missing three straight games before making a return against the Wolverines.
Indiana starting cornerback D’Angelo Ponds is plenty familiar with Smith as former high school teammates at Chaminade High School in Florida.
Ohio State's defense has only given up nine touchdowns this season
The Buckeyes closed out the regular season by holding Michigan to just three field goals. It was the fifth time this season they held an opponent out of the end zone and third time they did it against a foe from the Big Ten.

The Buckeyes have made a seamless transition from defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to Matt Patricia, who made his collegiate coaching debut this season. The former New England defensive coordinator had spent his entire coaching career in the NFL absent a stint at Syracuse as a graduate assistant.
