The Cleveland Browns quarterback room is one that many have taken a keen interest in this season. Joe Flacco started as the team's QB1, but after trading him to the Cincinnati Bengals, the Browns turned to third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel.

He started for some time, but after a concussion knocked him out for a week, Shedeur Sanders, a fan-favorite, finally got his chance. While he wasn't perfect, he showed enough flash to earn another week of starting for Cleveland.

But, as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports, this might not be only a one-week extension of his starting role. Sanders, if he plays well, could stay in the starter role for the rest of the season. This is great news for Sanders, as he now has a chance to cement himself as the team's starting quarterback for the rest of the 2025 season.

Browns open to Shedeur Sanders starting rest of 2025 season

"The Browns are open to giving Sanders an extended look for the rest of the season, just as fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel got in the first half of this season, sources told ESPN." But much of that decision will be dictated by how Sanders plays, starting Sunday."

If Sanders, the former Colorado quarterback and son of Deion Sanders, can impress in the Browns' Week 13 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, then Sanders could wind up earning the starting job in Cleveland for the rest of the season.

It won't be easy, as the 49ers are a strong team and could very easily make things challenging for the fifth-round rookie quarterback.

But even being in this position didn't seem possible just a few weeks ago. Gabriel was locked into the starting job, and Kevin Stefanski showed no intention to hand the keys over to Sanders.

However, after Sanders' first start, the Browns are giving Sanders a runway to take over the starting job. The only question left is, will Sanders take advantage of this great opportunity?

There's momentum being Sanders getting this role, and a solid performance against the 49ers would go a long way towards the fan-favorite quarterback keeping this starting job for the rest of the 2025 season.
