10’ – Everton go down the other side and Ndiaye’s cross is put out for a corner, which then becomes a throw-in. Hall inswinger and Pickford puts it over the bar from his goalline, but the ref blows for a foul on the keeper.

1’ – Everton kick off. Woltemade immediately turns Keane in the middle, and plays Elanga through. The winger is faster than Mykolenko and gets off a shot at the far post, Pickford plays it safe and parries it wide for a corner. Corner into the six-yard box, Pickford stays on his line and an unchallenged Thiaw rises highest and heads into the goal from point-blank range. 55 seconds in, and Everton are behind 1-0.
