The Pistons will host the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 12 and then face the Boston Celtics on the road on Dec. 15, the NBA announced at 1:30 a.m. Saturday after the conclusion of the group play stage.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFour teams from each conference advanced to the knockout rounds, a single-elimination tournament that will conclude with an NBA Cup winner on Dec. 16 in Las Vegas. The remaining 22 teams, including the Pistons, had two regular season games added to their slate instead to be played on Dec. 11 or Dec. 12 and Dec. 14 or Dec. 15.

With their 112-109 loss to the Magic, the Pistons concluded the in-season tournament with a 2-2 record and fell to 15-4 overall on the season. The Magic clinched "East Group B" and advanced to the next round, and will face the Miami Heat Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.
The New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors also made the tournament on the East side, with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers on the other side.
