Being a team in the NFC, the New York Jets are less familiar with their Week 13 opponent, the Atlanta Falcons.
On paper, that's true.
The Jets (2-9) do have a slight upper hand on the Falcons (4-7) in one sense.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAtlanta's defensive coordinator is New York's last head coach and defensive coordinator, Jeff Ulbrich. He was with the Jets from 2021 to 2024 on Robert Saleh's coaching staff. Ulbrech ended up being the interim head coach in New York for 12 games last season.
It's a whole new team for Ulbrich but what he brings to the table is well known in New York. That might help the Jets on offense on Sunday... but Gang Green is not taking Atlanta lightly.
"There are some similar principals but it's definitely a different outfit," Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor said. "I know coach Brick will have those guys flying to the football."
The Falcons had one of the NFL's top defenses earlier this season but a five-game losing skid did not help. Atlanta still has talent and Taylor knows that as their pass defense ranks as the eighth-best in the league allowing only 190.4 yards per game.

"They're pretty good all around," Hall said via video conference. "They got some big, physical linebackers. Obviously they got those two guys on the edge that are really good and they've always had some pretty good DBs."
On the edge, Hall referenced Jalon Walker and rookie James Pearce Jr.
