Before Toy Story 5 enters theaters, fans are revisiting all four films to the point they've made their way back onto the streaming charts. Toy Story 1-4 have recently become streaming hits in the U.S., sitting between holiday-themed films and notable blockbusters available on the streaming platform. Toy Story 5 is just less than a year away from its official release, so now is the perfect time to revisit the franchise before it flies to theaters.

On November 24, 2025, the first Toy Story film ranks 2nd on Disney+'s Top 10 overall, sitting between Freakier Friday and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Next in the ranking is Toy Story 3 at #4, followed by Toy Story 2 at #6 and Toy Story 4 at #10. Unfortunately, none of the spin-offs and shorts — such as Lightyear, Toy Story Toons, and Forky Asks a Question — have made it to the rankings, which is fair since Lightyear isn't as popular and generated less at the box office than the first Toy Story film during its theatrical release.

The Toy Story franchise follows a group of toys that come to life when they're alone, while also addressing themes of growing up and questioning the purpose of a toy. The first film was released in 1995 and became an immediate success, grossing over $237 million at the box office and earning three Academy Award nominations. Soon, three more installments were released, each generating more box-office revenue, turning Toy Story into a billion-dollar franchise, as both Toy Story 3 and 4 grossed over $1 billion each.

What Is 'Toy Story 5' About?

Toy Story 5 is an upcoming film in which the toys face a new addition to the playroom: technology. Bonnie (Emily Hahn), now eight years old, receives a tablet called a LilyPad (Greta Lee), and both the toys and the tablet argue over what's best for their owner. It was reported that Toy Story 5 will put a focus on Jessie (Joan Cusack) as she becomes the new leader of the toys following the events of Toy Story 4. However, it was revealed that Woody (Tom Hanks) will be returning to the film, despite having parted ways with his friends previously.

Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton defended the franchise's continuation, as the idea of a fifth installment drew mixed reactions from fans, especially after Toy Story 3 ended on a high note. According to him, "nobody's being robbed of their trilogy," and Toy Story 1-3 can be seen as the "Andy Saga."

All four Toy Story films are available to stream on Disney+. Meanwhile, Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters in 2026. Follow Collider to stay updated.
