AUSTIN, Texas — “Cowards do what cowards do.”
The perspective from Texas A&M Aggies graduate guard Ar’Maj Reed-Adams this week when asked about the Texas Longhorns briefly celebrating on the midfield logo at Kyle Field last season became bulletin-board material for the burnt orange and white, redshirt senior safety Michael Taaffe said on Friday.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt was a strange perspective considering the 17-7 win by Texas that was at times more dominant than the final score suggested while willfully ignoring the effort by Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian to stop the celebration as quickly as possible.
Beyond the poor optics of that short-lived decision by Texas players, there wasn’t anything cowardly about that performance.
Nor was there anything cowardly about Friday’s resounding 27-17 victory at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, which left Longhorns sophomore edge Colin Simmons wondering who Reed-Adams even was.
“You talking about when 55 said that? What’s his name? I don’t even know his name and he’s a sixth-year,” Simmons said.

Count that as a massive L for the nameless big fella in front of the media and two bigger losses to Texas on the field over the 120 minutes that actually mattered.
Oh wait, there was also the 40-14 loss to Texas when Reed-Adams was at Kansas in 2023, a game in which he played 48 snaps. And the 55-14 loss to the Longhorns in 2022 in which the DeSoto product played 15 snaps.
So make that 0-4 in games that Reed-Adams has appeared in against the burnt orange and white with a margin of 139-52.
Persistent loser behavior.
