Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark used his Friday night FOX interview during the Arizona-Arizona State game to advocate for his conference. And he took a shot at Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff positioning.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWith No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 11 BYU and No. 13 Utah all still in the CFP hunt, Yormark said he believes the Big 12 deserves multiple bids in the 12-team Playoff and suggested BYU’s resume stacks up more favorably than Notre Dame’s.
“I think BYU has been underappreciated all season long,” Yormark said. “When you compare them to a Notre Dame, there is no comparison when you think about strength of record, strength of schedule and win-loss.”
The Fighting Irish (9-2) sit ninth in the latest CFP rankings but lack a conference title game as an Independent, something Yormark noted as BYU prepares for a possible Big 12 Championship berth. The Cougars can clinch a spot by beating UCF on Saturday.
