The Texas Longhorns lost a commitment during the second quarter of Friday’s matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium when Melissa offensive tackle Max Wright flipped to the SMU Mustangs.
The 6’6.5, 290-pounder took a recent official visit to SMU that ultimately ended his commitment to Texas, which was given all the way back in February. After the Longhorns received the only official visit taken by the consensus three-star prospect, Wright’s pledge seemed solid until the late push from the Mustangs.

Texas holds three commitments at the offensive line position after flipping local product Kaden Scherer from Stanford earlier this week, but remain in pursuit of LSU pledge Brysten Martinez, who tripped to the Forty Acres on an official visit for the Arkansas game.
Wright is ranked as the No. 514 player nationally and the No. 47 offensive tackle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
