The last time cornerback Trevon Diggs took the field was Week 6 vs. the Carolina Panthers.

Now nearly eight weeks later, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan, on Friday, that he expects Diggs “will be on the field in Detroit (next Thursday), in my view, (barring a setback).”

The All-Pro corner has missed the last six games for Dallas, after suffering a concussion at his home back on October 16 and was immediately ruled out for that week’s game against the Washington Commanders.

Dallas then proceeded to place Diggs on Injured Reserve, which forced him to miss the next four games against the Broncos, Cardinals, Raiders, and Eagles

Diggs was eligible to return for Thanksgiving vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, but on a short week was less likely to happen.

Injuries have been a big story line for the veteran corner for the past two seasons, including a pair of knee injuries suffered in 2023 and 2024 and questions were in the air about his availability at the start of this season, but ultimately took the field for Week 1.

As for taking the field against the Lions, head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who met with reporters on Friday, noted it comes down to how Diggs looks in practice.

“We will take it one day at a time, Schottenheimer said. “I’m excited to see Trevon, how he looks and how he moves around and all that stuff we’ll just take one day at a time, but I know he’s excited to get back out there again.” I think he’d need a ramp up. I mean, he hasn’t practiced for a couple weeks, he’s got to do his part to show us he’s ready, you still need to get back out there on the practice field and run around and and move around and be communicating.”
