Patrick Mahomes expresses his concern for his team’s playoffs standing after losing to the Dallas Cowboys
The 30-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has never missed the playoffs since he began as a starter for his team
He has also won three of the five Super Bowls the Chiefs have played in since he joined the team
Patrick Mahomes knows his team has to get focused if they expect to make it to the NFL playoffs this year.
After falling 31-28 to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Thursday, Nov. 27, the 30-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback spoke to reporters about what it would take for them to have a shot at advancing this football season.

Patrick Mahomes with his familyHe and his teammates now sit 6-6, and run the risk of not making it to the playoffs for the first time since the father of three became the starting quarterback in 2018.
Mahomes shares daughter Sterling Skye, 4, son Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III, 3, and 10-month-old daughter Golden Raye with his wife Brittany Mahomes, 30, all of whom were at the Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday.
“We’re going to play a lot of good teams coming up,” Mahomes continued while discussing the loss to reporters.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementNext, the Chiefs take on the Houston Texans on Sunday, Dec. 7, followed by the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Dec. 14. Before the year ends, the Chiefs will also play the Titans on Dec. 21, ending 2025 with a Christmas Day matchup against the Denver Broncos.
They'll begin 2026 with a Jan. 4 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
“If we’re going to make the playoffs, we’re going to have to win them all. That’s got to be the mindset when we step into the [training facility] when we get back,” Mahomes said.
Since becoming the starting Kansas City Chiefs quarterback in 2018, the NFL star has not only led his team to the playoffs, but has also won three Super Bowls out of five beginning in 2020.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“We can beat anybody, but we’ve shown that we can lose to anybody,” Mahomes continued. “We’ve got to be more consistent. We’ve had big plays and we’ve had runs where we can really score at any time, but we’ve got to be consistent for four quarters, especially when you play good teams and they have a good offense.”

Ahead of the loss, Mahomes’ teammate, best friend and business partner Travis Kelce shared that he has total faith in the quarterback’s ability to lead.

"That guy is the most competitive human being I know, and we love him for how he leads this team both on the field in practice throughout the week and right now, man,” Kelce, 36, was heard telling reporters in a video after the Chiefs beat the Indianapolis Colts 23-20 on Sunday, Nov. 23.
