New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart began to inject hope into the franchise when he took over as the starter in Week 4. Unfortunately, his tough-style rushing led to a serious concussion, leaving him sidelined for a week thus far. Now, the team has made its final decision on his Week 12 availability against the Detroit Lions.

Dart represents an energy that has fueled the Giants to believe he is their franchise option, but he continually puts himself in danger when running the ball. This style has led to many in the organization essentially telling the rookie that he must drastically change the way that he plays football.

The rookie can certainly run the ball, but likely only when he plans to slide instead of acting like a de facto running back. Dart is clearly too valuable to the franchise to be putting himself constantly in danger. Oddly enough, former NFL head coach Jon Gruden warned the Giants' signal caller about his running before he was drafted.

Either way, Dart is now missing action due to a concussion suffered from this exact dangerous way of running the ball. As a result, the team has made the final decision on his playing in Week 12 due to a concussion.

Per multiple reports, Dart has not cleared concussion protocol and has already been ruled out for the Lions game. This is a tough update, but the Giants will lean on Jameis Winston once again.

Dart will miss Week 12, but he could be back for Week 13. If he does not clear concussion protocol by Week 13, the Giants will have a much-needed bye in Week 14.

Winston is plenty capable of leading the Giants while Dart is out, and he will have to do so in Week 12. In his first start of the regular season, the longtime veteran threw 201 yards and one interception against the Green Bay Packers.

New York has a lot of work to do in the offseason, mainly ensuring that the team can build around Dart for the future. The young rookie will also have to change the way he runs the ball for the remainder of 2025 and the rest of his career, which will also be a top priority for the organization's next head coach.
