Broken Arrow comes into Friday’s semifinal at 9-2. Last week, the Tigers posted a 29-14 home win against Mustang in the quarterfinal round.
As for Bixby, the Spartans are two wins away from winning their eighth consecutive state title - the last three coming after moving up to 6A-I. The Spartans have also won state 10 times over the past 11 seasons.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBixby, on the other hand, is 11-0 and has beaten all but one of its opponents by at least 28 points. If history is any indicator, Broken Arrow does have one advantage - the Tigers beat the Spartans in the only other time the two Tulsa suburban school have faced off in the postseason, as BA posted a 58-19 win in 2011.
The winner of Friday’s semifinal takes on the winner of the other semifinal between Jenks and Owasso - which takes place Friday night in Catoosa - next weekend in Edmond for the 6A-I title.
