Luckily, players may not have to wait too much to know what’s officially in store for the next update, as the Version 3.8 livestream is expected to happen soon. Based on the game’s regular updates every six weeks, the next patch will likely arrive on December 17. Livestreams tend to occur two weeks prior, on Friday mornings. As such, the Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 livestream will likely happen on December 5, in the morning.
So far, there have been no signs that Version 3.8, specifically, will be delayed, and because of this, it’s likely the livestream won’t be pushed back. Usually, when a livestream doesn’t occur when it should, it’s a sign that the patch will be delayed. For now, players shouldn’t have any concerns that Version 3.8 will be delayed, though future updates, like Version 4.0, may be pushed back, as suggested by a leak shared on Reddit.

The Dahlia May Buff Super Break DMG Teams

One of the main points of interest during the upcoming Version 3.8 livestream will be the new character, The Dahlia. The special event should present the previously leaked kit for The Dahlia in Honkai: Star Rail, though its final version, after the changes made throughout the beta tests. The Dahlia has been confirmed by developer HoYoverse as a 5-star Fire Nihility character, though the company did not detail what she does.
However, the leaks have presented her as a support and sub-DPS for Super Break DMG team comps, such as those led by Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail. The leaks say that The Dahlia can deploy a zone in which allies have increased Weakness Break Efficiency, while Toughness Reduction sustained by enemies that aren’t Weakness Broken is converted into Super Break DMG.
Essentially, this means that she enables Super Break DMG before an enemy is Weakness Broken, which will make her indispensable for DPS characters who rely on this type of damage. Furthermore, she can choose an ally Dance Partner and can inflict new Weaknesses on enemies based on the Dance Partner’s element.
I suspect that The Dahlia will replace Ruan Mei in Super Break DMG team comps, despite the fact that the Ice character is capable of extending the duration of Weakness Broken that enemies sustain. This could also bring more value to Firefly, Boothill, and Rappa team comps, making them more usable in the current meta.
In addition to presenting The Dahlia and her abilities in battle, the Version 3.8 livestream will reveal the lineup of rerun banners for the period. There haven’t been truly reliable leaks regarding banners for the patch, but given rerun frequency and which characters need to appear, the speculation is that Firefly, Lingsha, or Rappa may appear in Phase 1 banners, especially given how they benefit from The Dahlia.
Meanwhile, the rumors indicate that Phase 2 banners may feature reruns for Fugue, Lingsha, and Yunli, all of which haven’t appeared in banners in a while. Fugue is a key part of Super Break DMG team comps, too, so her potential rerun would be a great opportunity for players to improve their teams.

There May Be Quests Involving The Dahlia & Firefly

Even though the Amphoreus story arc this year is complete, main campaign missions should still be introduced with Version 3.8. The aforementioned leak about the new boss in the patch is, supposedly, a figure from Firefly’s past, and this may be intimately linked to The Dahlia in some form, as part of the Ever-Flame Mansion. The Dahlia’s introduction should also come accompanied by quests, which may explain how she survived Acheron’s raid on the Ever-Flame Mansion.
In addition to the new story plots that players will be able to follow, even if they are not as extensive as a full regional arc, it’s also expected that they will be given access to limited-time events, as is the case with every update. With these, they will be able to farm both materials and Stellar Jade, which could help them prepare for Version 4.0. The full extent of the events is usually presented in livestreams, so you can expect it to show up in detail during the Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 livestream.
