According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Alabama Crimson Tide wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard has agreed to terms on a five-year deal to become the next head coach at Oregon State.

Prior to the news Friday morning, CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz had previously reported Thursday afternoon that Oregon State was targeting Shephard as their next head coach.

Shephard, who is currently in his second season at Alabama, currently serves as the Crimson Tide's wide receivers coach, as well as assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator. The veteran assistant was one of the coaches who followed Kalen DeBoer to Tuscaloosa from Washington, where he was previously on the current Alabama head coach's staff in the same role as wide receivers coach from 2022-23.

At Alabama, Shephard has been a fan-favorite among assistant coaches during his two seasons, and has been key in the development of players such as Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams.

Shephard is now set to takeover an Oregon State program that went 5-14 over the last two seasons under former head coach Trent Bray, and is currently 2-2 under interim Robb Akey.
