Giants vs. Patriots: 3 players to start/sit in fantasy football

The New York Giants may be out of postseason contention at 2-10, but they are as dangerous an opponent as any team in the NFL right now. Their opponents this week, the AFC's top-seeded New England Patriots (10-2), are fully aware of the Giants' capabilities.

From a fantasy perspective, Giants games have been an active playground for enthusiasts. They score and yield points in droves and have won and lost contests for fantasy owners throughout the first 12 weeks of this NFL season.

In their upcoming showdown on Monday night in Foxborough, there are plenty of options to choose from. Here are our top start/sit suggestions for this game, which has an over/under total of 48.5 points.

Start: Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson

No-brainer. The Giants are last against the run this season, and there doesn't appear to be much help on the horizon. They fired their defensive coordinator (Shane Bowen) this week, but that won't change the fact that Pro Bowl Dexter Lawrence is not 100 percent, and they are using backups at inside linebacker and safety.

Meanwhile, the rookie TreVeyon Henderson has emerged as a borderline RB1 over the past month with several breakout performances. The Giants are not going to be able to stop him should offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels repeatedly call his number, which we expect him to do often.

Sit: Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. has shown signs of breaking out over the past two weeks, logging 17.9 and 16.0 FPS on DraftKings during that time. That will get the attention of a lot of daily players, but they have to check themselves and consider the matchup. The Patriots have allowed the second-fewest FPS to running backs this season, and the game script could have the Giants playing from behind. True, Tracy is an integral part of the Giants' passing game as well, but it's best to play it safe here and fade him.

Sit: Giants defense

When it comes to both fantasy and reality, the Giants have been the worst defense in the NFL this year. They have averaged just 2.7 FPS per game and are getting torched in every way possible. They also have just 10 takeaways in their first 12 games. For a team that was supposed to be focusing on that aspect, they've done a poor job. The Pats have the 8th-best offense in the league and should have their way in this game, especially late in the game as the Giants get gassed.
