Report: Vanderbilt signs Clark Lea to an extension

Well, this is very different from the last time Vanderbilt won nine games in a season:

I really doubted that Lea was ever seriously considering going anywhere, but with Vanderbilt having a 9-2 record going into tomorrow’s regular-season finale at Tennessee and still technically having playoff hopes, the university has reportedly finalized a contract extension with its football coach. No word on the details just yet, but it’s a clear sign that the current administration (both athletics and university) is very different from the one that let James Franklin walk to Penn State, or the one that let Eddie Fogler walk to South Carolina.

Anyway, I suppose there’s a possibility that this is all just a Diego Pavia-induced mirage, but even if so, this is a brave new world of Vanderbilt athletics.
