After releasing the flagship OnePlus 15 globally (barring the US), the Shenzhen, China-based tech giant is now looking to bring its more performance-focused flagship to users around the world. I'm talking about the OnePlus 15R, which is expected to be announced on December 17th.

Anticipated to be a rebranded version of the China-exclusive OnePlus Ace 6T, the OnePlus 15R might be a true 'flagship killer,' at least when it comes to the device's reported battery life.

The OnePlus 15R gets its announcement date, joined by other surprises

We're getting these clues from OnePlus on Weibo (via Android Authority), with the tech giant mainly sharing details about the OnePlus Ace 6T. Considering the OnePlus 15R will be based on the Ace 6T, a lot of the shared specs are expected to carry over to the global version, and that could include a groundbreaking battery size.

For what it's worth, the flagship OnePlus 15 boasts a huge 7,300mAh battery. According to OnePlus, the Ace 6T will ramp that up to 8,300mAh, essentially giving the new device the biggest battery ever in a modern flagship. For reference, even Samsung's Tab S10 FE features a small 8,000mAh battery when compared to the Ace 6T.

The OnePlus Ace 6T will usher in the era of 8,000+ mAh flagship smartphones, paired with 100W SuperVOOC Flash Charging. Considering the model that will make its way to us in the US, the OnePlus 15R, will be based on the OnePlus Ace 6T, we're hoping that the device can retain its 8,300mAh cell in the global rebranding.

We're 'hoping' because OnePlus normally caps charging speeds at 80W in North America, paired with shipping restrictions that prevent easy shipment of high-capacity lithium-ion batteries. Regardless, from the looks of it, the OnePlus 15R is shaping up to be a high-performance flagship.

Although not much has leaked yet, we do know that the device will boast a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with impressive durability, matching the OnePlus 15’s IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance rating.

The device is expected to be fully announced on December 17th, alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2 and the OnePlus Watch Lite.
