The sanction was confirmed by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Commission following the 4-0 defeat at Emirates Stadium on October 21 in the Champions League.

In a ruling published this week, UEFA confirmed that Atlético de Madrid were punished for two separate offences under its Disciplinary Regulations. The club were fined €30,000 for “racist and/or discriminatory behaviour” by their supporters, in breach of Article 14(2), and a further €10,000 for the “throwing of objects”, under Article 16(2)(b).

As part of the same decision, Atlético were also issued with a ban on selling tickets to away supporters for their next UEFA competitive match. That ban has been suspended for a probationary period of one year, meaning it will only be enforced should a similar offence occur during that time.
