Chelsea are reportedly ready to beat an £85,000 per week to sign a goalkeeper who they currently have under consideration.

As we head towards another transfer window opening win just over a month’s time now, we are starting to see and hear about more and more potential transfer moves that The Blues may look to do.

Sources: Chelsea not in talks to sign Serie A star but there ARE developments in one key position!

One position that is always spoken about is a new goalkeeper, and we all know the story of what happened with AC Milan stopper Mike Maignan in the summer just gone. The Blues seemed close to signing him at one stage but could not agree a fee with the Italian club in the end.

There has always been talk of Chelsea returning for the French number one stopper because his contract is currently running out in the summer of 2026. Milan want to extend his deal, but Chelsea are apparently monitoring the situation still.

A report from TEAMtalk says Chelsea are going to monitor Mike Maignan’s contract situation at AC Milan as they assess their long-term goalkeeping plans.

According to the same report, Milan’s contract proposal to Maignan is around €5m (£4.4m / $5.8m) per year, which equates to approximately £85,000 per week.

This is a figure they claim that Chelsea could easily beat if they decide to firm up their interest in the French international.

We’ll see what happens

I’m not sure so anymore that Chelsea will move for Maignan. i think they are waiting on Mike Penders and are likely to bring him in next summer instead. But I also think it’s a decision that they have not made yet and will look at this in the summer and then make a decision on Penders.

If Maignan is still available then and hasn’t signed a new contract, maybe they see an opportunity to bring him in as a free agent. Let’s see what happens.
