When the Boston Celtics acquired Josh Minott during the offseason, it was clear they were betting on his upside. The athletic forward struggled to earn playing time during his tenure with the Minnesota Timberwolves; however, given the Celtics' status as a retooling team, Minott is projected to have a legitimate opportunity to prove himself at the NBA level.
The former second-round draft pick has hit the ground running for Joe Mazzulla's team. His size, length and athleticism have been major additions to Boston's rotation, while his ability to play solid defense and pressure the passing line fits perfectly into the identity the Celtics are trying to build. Minott has played in 17 games so far, averaging 7.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 51.1% from the field and 41.7% from deep.

In the weeks that have followed, Minott has answered that question with some consistently solid play. Nevertheless, it's interesting to go back and hear what Mazzulla had to say in the moment.
