Barcelona star could miss the club’s next 4 fixtures

La Liga giants Barcelona could be forced to make do without the contributions of Fermín López for their next four outings across all competitions.

This comes after the midfielder suffered an injury setback this week.

As per a statement released across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms on Thursday afternoon:

‘First-team player Fermín López has a small injury to the soleus muscle in his right leg, and his estimated recovery time is around two weeks.’

Barca’s release specifies that Fermín, all going according to plan, is likely to miss around two weeks of action.

So, amid a busy point in the fixture schedule, how many matches is this likely to equate to?

The Spanish international is certain to miss this weekend’s clash with Deportivo Alavés, as well as ensuing domestic outings against both Atlético Madrid and Real Betis.

Should Fermín be just ahead of schedule in his recovery, he could play some part against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on December 9th, but the likelihood is that he will miss as much, too.

Instead, a league clash with Osasuna four days later is considered the date underlined in red for the 22-year-old’s return.
