LSU football lost a key member of its 2026 recruiting class with three-star defensive tackle Darryus McKinley flipping his commitment to Ohio State.

Darryus McKinley originally committed to LSU on Aug. 1, but Ohio State kept pushing. Amid coaching uncertainty at LSU, McKinley pledged to the Buckeyes.

McKinley is a Louisiana native and the younger brother of LSU defensive tackle Dominick McKinley.

ESPN is the highest on McKinley, slotting the defensive lineman as a four-star and the No. 39-ranked defensive tackle in the country. ESPN ranks McKinley as the No. 12 prospect in Louisiana.

With McKinley out of the fold, LSU's 2026 recruiting class ranks No. 11 nationally, per Rivals Industry Rankings. Despite firing head coach Brian Kelly, LSU's recruiting class has remained intact, for the most part. LSU has some battles to fight with signing day approaching, but the staff has prevented the class from falling apart.

LSU is still set to sign a strong defensive tackle crop, with Lamar Brown and Richard Anderson committed. Both could finish the cycle as five-star recruits.
