SAN DIEGO -- It has been an action packed three weeks in the WWE since Saturday Night’s Main Event. In that time, the WWE has done a great job of building to one of its ‘big 4’ premium live events, Survivor Series: WarGames, which takes place this Saturday night at Petco Park in San Diego.

The card only features four matches at the moment, and all four have had recent major changes and developments. So, let’s break down what's happened, and what's at stake this Saturday night.

The Last Time is Too Soon

John Cena’s retirement tour became even more exciting on the November 10 episode of Monday Night Raw when he challenged and defeated Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Title, becoming a grand slam champion.

On the November 17th episode of Raw in New York City, Cena’s last, he and Mysterio exchanged more words, in which they agreed to fight at WarGames on November 29th in Mysterio’s home town, in a rematch for the IC title.

Cena also fought in an electric six-man tag match that night, teaming with Sheamus and Rey Mysterio to take on the Judgement Day, with Dom, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh. The good guys won the match, in a light-hearted, good time of a fight that the fans loved.

This has been when the John Cena farewell tour is at its best. When it is treated as more of a party than anything else. The Boston and NYC crowds certainly made it feel like one, berating Cena with cheers as long as they could.

‘The Last Time is Now Tournament’ has continued on, with the remaining participants being Gunther, Solo Sikoa, Jey Uso, LA Knight, Rusev, and a mystery opponent. Whether or not Cena wins his rematch with Dom, or his final match on December 13th, all that matters is that the fans show him what he’s shown to them for 25 years, endless passioin and love.

Star Studded WarGames Matchups

The men’s WarGames match consists of: Champion Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso vs. Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed

The field has come together in recent weeks, and promises to provide an amazing match, with big names all over, including both WWE and World Heavyweight champs on one side, in Rhodes and Punk.

Jey and Jimmy Uso, CM Punk, and even Cody Rhodes were pretty much given to be in this match for the good guys, as they have all been in their own feuds with the Vision for a while now.

For the heel side, the only two given names were Reed and Breakker, as the only remaining members of ‘The Vision’ alliance. McIntyre was feuding with Rhodes, so he makes sense, but Logan Paul joining the group came as a pleasant surprise to fans, as his hated character adds to the team greatly.

The other two ‘surprises’, Lesnar and Reigns, make the most sense, in terms of Reigns joining his cousins in a fight against the Vision, and for Lesnar, joining forces with his old friend Paul Heyman.

The heel team won the advantage match this past Monday on Raw, but it was the face team that stood tall at the end of the night. Who will win this highly anticipated matchup? We’ll see on Saturday Night.

On the women’s side of WarGames, it will be AJ Lee, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY vs. Becky Lynch, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane), Nia Jax and Lash Legend.

This is an incredibly stacked lineup, featuring eight sure-bet Hall of Famers, and very well could have all 10 in the Hall when their careers are said and done.

The build for this matchup was tricky, and felt a little thrown together when it comes to the heel team, especially with Jax and Legend, who is a recent NXT call-up. Once you look past the slight lack of connection though, the heel presence and dominance the pair have brought to this match has been incredible.

The biggest draw that the WWE has with this match though, is of course the ongoing feud between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch. On last week’s Raw, Lee distracted Lynch, leading to her losing her title to Maxxine Dupri, adding to their heat even more.

With these two at the forefront, along with the continuance of Rhea, Iyo, Charlotte and Alexa facing off with the Kabuki Warriors, and Jax and Legend laying waste to their opponents, this match will have all of the high-flying excitement and hard-hitting action it needs to possibly steal the show.

‘La Primera’ vs Nikki Bella

Another recent development on Monday Night Raw has been WWE Women’s Stephanie Vaquer, and her best friend Nikki Bella, or so we thought was her best friend.

On the November 10th Raw, after Vaquer retained her women’s title, Bella turned on her, hitting her with the title, and calling her shot for it.

The next week, during Stephanie’s interview in front of the audience, Nikki attacked her again, and explained that Stephanie's kindness helped her remember who she was, and she was coming to take what was hers.

This is certainly the most organic of the feuds on this WarGames card, and will likely see Vaquer retain clean over Bella, and nonetheless, has been a nice first real feud for Stephanie.

Overall, with this being Cena’s second to last match, and last official PLE, Survivor Series WarGames will be electric, and should deliver on its promise of being a big four PLE of the year. It begins at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at Petco Park.
