Robin appears in Batman's new release, but this version of the Dark Knight's sidekick is not at all what DC fans have come to expect from the hero, with an unlikely character donning the mantle for a brief time. Batman was created in March 1939. A year later, in April 1940, Robin debuted in DC Comics. The characters have been connected for a long time.
As such, it is shocking that most Batman movies do not feature a version of Robin, especially given the many characters who have donned the mantle in the comics. Thankfully, James Gunn's DC Universe is set to change that with a comics-accurate take on Robin and the Bat-Family. However, before then, another Bat-Family project depicts an uncharacteristic Robin.
The Only Robin In Batman's New Appearance Does Not Use That Name
Damian Wayne as Little Batman and Alfred Pennyworth as Robin trapped in a net in Bat-Fam
Adding to the pantheon of animated Batman TV shows is Prime Video's Bat-Fam, with all of its 10 episodes out now on the streaming service. The series follows a different take on the Bat-Family, which only features one version of Robin from the comics. Gone are characters like Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake, with Damian Wayne being the sole Robin on the show.
However, not even Damian Wayne goes by Robin in Bat-Fam. The series is a spinoff of Merry Little Batman, a DC movie that chronicled Damian's transformation into Little Batman, sharing his father's mantle. As such, both Damian and Bruce Wayne are Batman in Bat-Fam. While anyone who watched the animated movie knew about that, Robin does appear in Bat-Fam.
There is a twist to that. During a scene where Damian and Alfred Pennyworth are playing around Wayne Manor, Alfred dons the Robin suit, with Damian as Little Batman. Ra's al Ghul, who is a ghost in Bat-Fam, takes on the form of the Joker in the game. At the end, he references Jason Todd's death from DC Comics, saying, "Next time, let me kill Robin."
DC Fans Will Get Their Robin Fix In Theaters Soon

Having Alfred in the Robin suit for minimal screentime is the closest we get to someone being Robin in Bat-Fam, which is certainly disappointing for a project focused on the Bat-Family. Thankfully, DC fans will soon get to see Robin in upcoming Batman projects, and both of them will be released on the big screen.
The DCU's The Brave and the Bold is confirmed to revolve around Bruce Wayne finding out that he has a son, Damian, Bat-Fam's star. The other Robin appearance comes in the animated Dynamic Duo, which will follow two versions of Robin, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. As such, Batman fans will get their Robin fix in theaters in the coming years.
