Maryland football was bestowed with the American Football Coaches Association’s 2025 Academic Achievement Award Wednesday, it was announced in a release.

The award was honored to seven schools whose programs had the highest graduation rate among the 2018 freshman football student-athlete class. Along with Maryland — this is the school’s first such honor — the other programs to receive the award include Cincinnati, Middle Tennessee State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Temple.

The Graduation Success Rate (GSR) one-year formula has determined the winners over the past 14 years. It takes into account transfer students, midyear enrollees and non-scholarship students.

The head coaches of the winning schools will be honored at the AFCA Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina on Jan. 11.
