BOSTON — The Detroit Pistons were dusting off the history books on Wednesday afternoon, as they were just one win away from setting a new franchise record for consecutive victories. However, the Boston Celtics kept those books closed, prevailing 117-114 at TD Garden and ending the Pistons' winning streak at 13 games.
It was a gritty, back-and-forth game that seemed destined for overtime. Yet, with three free throws and a chance to tie the contest, Pistons star Cade Cunningham couldn't get it done. He hit the first two free throws and then missed the last one with 4.4 seconds remaining.

The Pistons had to rush for their final possession, resulting in a turnover and their first loss since late October.
Despite missing his last free throw, Cunningham finished with a game-high 42 points. Pritchard recorded 16 points while Celtics star Jaylen Brown led the way with 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Celtics guard Derrick White also bounced back with 27 points and 7 rebounds in 31 minutes.
The 10-8 Green Team has now won five of their last six games. They'll travel to face the Minnesota Timberwolves next on Saturday afternoon.
