The San Francisco 49ers hosted the Carolina Panthers on Monday night at Levi's Stadium, and Kyle Shanahan's team squeaked out an ugly 20-9 win to improve to 8-4 and remain in the seventh spot in the conference with just six weeks left to go.

San Francisco had far from their best game against Carolina, as Brock Purdy threw three interceptions in the first half. Luckily for them, the Panthers didn't capitalize and turned the ball over twice themselves.

Both of Carolina's turnovers were interceptions that landed in the hands of safety Ji'Ayir Brown, who 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said had the best game since joining the team as a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft out of Penn State.

Shanahan's comments came during San Francisco's post-game locker room celebration, which the team shared on social media. The coach also allowed Brown to give a speech and break down his team in the middle.

It was also cool for Shanahan to give a shoutout to kicker Matt Gay, who joined the team on the practice squad in the middle of the week after the Washington Commanders waived him. Gay made both of his field goals and two extra point attempts.
