The New England Patriots will have their hands full when fielding a severely weakened offensive line against the visiting New York Giants on Monday night. That includes Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who has looked nearly flawless this season.
Even the most gifted players have a weakness, and Giants edge rusher Brian Burns might have unlocked one of Maye's in his preparation for the Week 13 matchup. When speaking with media members, Burns admitted Maye was talented, but he also claimed that the young quarterback might be "a little too poised" in the pocket at times.

"It could be a bad thing, it could be a good thing. What I mean by poised is that he takes his time, he makes the right reads and he tries to make the right play. It can also bite you in the butt at a certain amount of times if you've got edge rushers coming and you're not really too cognitive of where they are."
Burns' breakdown of Maye's game isn't anything that hasn't been said before.
There have been concerns about Maye holding on to the ball for too long and searching for the right play, which is reminiscent of most young NFL quarterbacks. The accelerated processing speed comes with experience, and Maye is only in his second year. It also should be noted that he has been significantly better at avoiding sacks in recent weeks.

One concern this week is the fact that the Patriots are expected to be without their starting left tackle, Will Campbell, and left guard Jared Wilson. That could create avenues for Burns and the Giants' defensive front to wreak havoc on Maye.
With that said, the Giants also have the worst run defense in the NFL with teams averaging 157.2 yards per game against them this season. Expect Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to lean on the legs of running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson to protect the quarterback and create a base for an offensive attack.
