Nov. 26 (UPI) -- UConn's Jim Mora will leave head coach job to accept that position at Colorado State, Huskies athletic director David Benedict announced Wednesday.
Benedict said offensive coordinator Gordie Sammis will serve as interim coach while the Huskies conduct a national search for a permanent replacement.

"The accomplishments reflect the strength of our UConn brand, and a confidence that this program can continue to be a source of great pride for the citizens of our state and Husky fans everywhere."
Mora, 64, led the Huskies to a 6-7 record in 2022, his first season. The Huskies went 3-9 in 2023. Mora's Huskies went 9-4 in 2024. The Huskies are 9-3 this season, tying their mark from 2003 for the best record in program history.
The 2025 Huskies, who have the nation's eighth-best passing attack, rank 15th in points per game (36.9). They rank 78th in points allowed per game (25.8).
