Locations of some large liquor store chains will be closed or operating on special hours on Thanksgiving Day.
Thanksgiving this year will be on Thursday, November 27.
Some states, such as Texas and Connecticut, prohibit or restrict the sale of alcohol on Thanksgiving.
“The laws haven’t changed this year: all off-premise alcohol sales are prohibited on Thanksgiving Day. No matter how you choose to celebrate — or under what influence — you should do so responsibly. Keep track of what you consume, set limits on your gaming apps, and designate a safe driver,” Connecticut Consumer Protection Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli said in a press release.
Consumers can check their state and local laws regarding alcohol sales on the holiday.
Alcohol sales may be permitted in grocery stores on Thanksgiving in states that allow grocery store retailers to sell alcohol. Consumers can check with their local grocery store regarding hours and alcohol sale policies for the holiday.
Total Wine & More
Total Wine & More locations will close at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, according to the special hours posted on the liquor store chain’s website.
Total Wine & More operates 290 locations across 30 states and Washington, D.C.

Locations of BevMo! will close at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, according to hours posted on the liquor store chain’s website.
BevMo! has 166 locations throughout California, Arizona and Washington.
Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods
Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods locations are closed on Thanksgiving, according to the chain’s website. Standard hours will resume on Black Friday.
Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods has over 180 locations in the state of Texas.
Fine Wine & Good Spirits
All Fine Wine & Good Spirits locations will be closed on Thanksgiving, according to the chain’s website.
Fine Wine & Good Spirits, run by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, has over 580 locations in Pennsylvania.
Virginia ABC
All Virginia ABC stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority said in a press release. All stores will open early at 8 a.m. on Black Friday.
Virginia ABC has over 400 locations across the state.
