Texas A&M (5-2) scored the most points ever in Reed Arena on Tuesday night after defeating Mississippi Valley State 120-84, as the Aggies have now scored over 100 points in three of their five wins this season under first-year head coach Bucky McMillan's fast-paced, high-scoring system that should continue into SEC play.
This win also marked Indiana transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako's first complete game, with 19 points, including 3-6 from beyond the arc. As a team, six players finished with double-digit scoring efforts, while the Aggies shot 50% from the field and 47% (16-34) from 3-point range. Yes, MVS has only won one game this season, but this performance continues to prove that McMillan was the perfect hire to replace Buzz Williams.

In 18 minutes, forward Zach Clemence scored a career high 15 points, including four 3-pointers, while former Texas forward Jamie Vinson has continued to look the part off the bench, scoring 12 points while grabbing a team-high six rebounds.
This win sets up Friday's important road test vs. Florida State. Texas A&M needs to keep the momentum flowing before conference play begins. After the game, Bucky McMillan, Zach Clemence, and Mackenzie Mgbako spoke to the media to discuss the win.
Mackenzie Mgbako on getting back on the court
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement"It felt good to be back out there with my boys. First game I had three minutes, so it felt good to get back out there and contribute to the team win."
Mgbako on Texas A&M's historic 120 points
"We can up it when we get more continuity and flow offensively. It's early, but we've got a lot to learn and we'll get there."
Zach Clemence on hitting four 3-pointers
"It was a good game, we're all going to have them. I had a good night and a bunch of people had a good night, it's good to see."
Mgbako on facing Florida State this Friday
"We're going out there to kill. That's all that matters."
Bucky McMillan on his team's efficiency from the field
"We shot 50 free throws, that's good. We made 16 threes and passed the ball better in the second half. With Mackenzie and Pop, we don't have the chemistry with them yet. It's nobody's fault, but we've got to get more chemistry. It's going to take time, but we've got to get together in a short time period."
McMillan on witnessing Mackenzie Mgbako's 19-point performance
"That's a great sign. He's all about winning and wanting to be out there and helping the team, we've just got to get him caught up playing with his teammates."
McMillan on facing Florida State
"Every game is critical, but we've got to put our best foot forward. We want to win these games, so we've got to focus on playing good basketball. Rylan's been out sick, Pop and Mack haven't practiced much. So we're probably not going to play the best basketball we will play this season, but within everything in our control we have to do it as well as possible on Friday."
McMillan on Rashaun Agee and Rylan Griffen miss Tuesday's game
"Rashaun is fine, he'll be back and good next game. I'm hoping to get Rylan Griffen back next game, he's got the flu, so hopefully he can come back and be fresh against Florida State."
