Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported on Tuesday that free agent outfielder Daz Cameron agreed to a contract with the Korea Baseball Organization's Doosan Bears in South Korea.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementCameron, 28, is the son of former center fielder Mike Cameron, who won three Gold Gloves across 17 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1995-2011.
The younger Cameron was taken 37th overall in 2015 by the Houston Astros. He debuted in 2020 with the Detroit Tigers, playing parts of three seasons with the AL Central club. He did not see Major League action in 2023 but inked a deal and played 66 games with the Athletics in 2024.
Known more for his defensive capabilities and speed, Cameron received just 472 plate appearances in his five years in MLB. His career slash line (.200/.258/.326) is less than impressive, but he may be able to find more success at the plate against lesser arms in the KBO.
Cameron should be an everyday player
Cameron started just 114 of 160 games played in MLB, but should receive the starting nod in center field for the Bears.

The Bears finished last season with a 61-77-6 record, good for ninth place out of 10 clubs in the KBO.
