The Toronto Blue Jays have one fewer pitcher than they expected to as they head into the bulk of the offseason.

The plan, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith, is for Lucas to sign "overseas," which presumably means Korea or Japan.
Lucas is 29 years old and pitched in six games for the Blue Jays, five of those starts.
He went 10.1 scoreless innings through his first two starts of the 2025 season in April before coming back to earth.
In his 24.1 innings at the MLB level this season, Lucas allowed 18 runs.
He has a total career mark of 42.2 innings in MLB with an 8.02 ERA with a below-average strikeout rate.
Lucas has been good at Triple-A, with a career 3.60 ERA at the top minor league level.

There have been a number of pitchers in recent years who have gone either to the NPB or KBO and returned a couple years later as an improved pitcher. That's something that Lucas can aspire to now.
The Blue Jays' 40-man roster total has dropped to 37 now with Lucas' departure.
