Jonathan Kuminga has missed the last six games for the Golden State Warriors. The former lottery pick is reportedly dealing with bilateral knee tendinitis. There is currently no timeline for Kuminga's return to the rotation, as he is listed as day-to-day. Kuminga's six-game absence comes on the back of him being moved back into the Warriors' second unit, following 12 consecutive starts to begin the season.
According to Nick Friedell of The Athletic, Kuminga declined to comment when asked about his knee on Monday. However, head coach Steve Kerr did provide some additional context regarding the injury following a recent MRI on the forward's troublesome knee.
“He got an MRI,” Kerr said. “It was clear, and so the last five days he’s been day to day, but he didn’t practice much (Sunday), if at all. And so there’s nothing that’s glaring, but it’s bothering him so it’s just day to day. So that hasn’t changed since (Sunday), so that’s what I mean by not having any more clarity.”
Kuminga's silence on his injury will undoubtedly concern fans. Recent reports have suggested that being moved back to the bench made him feel like the team was using him as a scapegoat. As such, his injury-induced absence has come at arguably the worst time, especially after his drawn-out contract negotiations over the summer.

However, there's no guarantee he will be inserted back into the starting lineup. How that plays out in the coming weeks could dictate the franchise's willingness to explore trade opportunities close to the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
