In Eppley’s first season with Northridge football in 2021, the Raiders made their first-ever state championship appearance before losing 45-14 to Mt. Vernon (Fortville) in the Class 4A game.
"For the betterment of myself and my family, I decided it is best for me to step down as the head football coach at Northridge High School," Eppley wrote in a press release Tuesday. " ... I came into the program preaching family, and my hope is that the student athletes and the coaches felt that. I want to thank everyone who helped and supported me along the way."
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDuring Eppley’s tenure with Northridge football, the Raiders won two sectionals, a regional, and a semi-state championship. However, they finished with just three wins in each of the last two seasons.
Eppley’s combined record over his tenure was 33-28. Northridge Athletic Director Ryan Bales said the search for a new head coach will begin immediately, and interested candidates should email him at [email protected].
"Coach Eppley did things the right way," Bales wrote in a press release. " ... So many times over the past five years we came in as an underdog, and he found a way for us to be competitive and in a lot of cases found ways to win ... We are a better school with people like him in our building."
In somewhat of a surprising development, Eppley was also recently named Northridge’s boys track & and field head coach.
